Sports Dry Needling is just dry needling, right?
Well, not quite. It’s a whole lot more!
Dry Needling has many differences in approach and application. On the most basic level, we learn the history of the technique, when it’s applied, and how to do it. On a more advanced level, we learn everything we did in basic, but also additional tools to get the most out of the dry needling sessions and necessary rehabilitation/regeneration to reduce the need for continued care.
Most people with musculoskeletal issues will undoubtedly benefit from dry needling. But, what does “benefit” really mean? Do we refer to a reduction in pain. Perhaps an increase in range of motion? How about more function? Sure, these benefits can be obtained with standard dry needling, but what about the athletic population that wants to run farther, faster? How about decreasing the time it takes to recover from surgical procedures? Let’s consider the athlete that is playing at a high level and every day of inability to play means a loss for the team and even perhaps a loss of future income?
Sports Dry Needling takes the technique of dry needling to another level. With our classes, Dr. Bross and Dr. Manison combine material from decades of knowledge of treating professional, Division 1, Division 2, all the way down to pee-wee athletes. They bridge the gap between just dry needling and dry needling’s application to a plethora of sports injury topics. The material is truly unique.
What makes the sports dry needling classes fun is that although there is a base of material that must be covered, each individual class can turn out to be quite different. For example, with a lower extremity class, it’s possible that the doctors in attendance will want to spend a lot of time on plantar fascial issues (which could include support and rehabilitation, orthotic considerations, etc…) whereas the next class might be more interested in knee pathology and require specific intervention for tracking issues. This is what makes these classes so different, and fun. The doctors will spend the necessary time, even if a bit off topic, to be sure that the attendees are learning material they need to understand to further benefit their patient prognosis. This can only be done by addressing additional interventions to aid with the dry needling material. It’s interesting and fun!
The doctors look forward to bringing their brand of dry needling to not only the chiropractors of Maryland, but also to chiropractors and other licensed healthcare providers nationwide. Being most practitioners who utilize dry needling are doing so with an athletic population, it makes sense to integrate other interventions to maximize patient prognosis.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
